On Friday, March 8 the Gladwin JH and HS Bands will travel to Oscoda HS to participate in the MSBOA District Band Festival. Click the link below for schedules.
Due to the large number of the snow days, the date of the annual Monster Concert has been changed from Monday, February 18 to Monday March 18. This change will allow the bands to focus on preparing for Band Festival which will take place on March 8. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding.
On Saturday, February 2, several members of the Gladwin High School Band traveled to Beaverton High School to participate in the MSBOA District 9 Solo & Ensemble Festival. The Festival was attended by students from all over north east Michigan. The students prepared solos and small ensembles and their performances were evaluated by trained MSBOA adjudicators. The Gladwin contingent did very well. 21 events performed with 13 events earning First Division ratings, 7 events earning Second Division ratings and 1 Third Division rating.
The following Gladwin students earned First Division ratings: Carly Haines – Alto Sax Solo, Hannah Elmore – Clarinet Solo, Katie Raymond – Tenor Sax Solo, Olivia Klein – Flute Solo, Kaitlyn Levine – Trumpet Solo, Victor Edick – Tenor Sax Solo, Alexander Beecher – Trombone Solo, Mario Sangret-Savalle – French Horn Solo. Carly Haines, Grant Shafer, Victor Edick, Danielle Klamer – Saxophone Quartet, Parker Guoan, Emily Wyniemko, Macy Haines, Lexi Moore, Hannah Elmore, Tanner Bissonette – Woodwind Ensemble, Brittany Sharpsteen, DJ Nyman, Jonny Bazzle, Kaitlyn Levine, Nathan Keen, Parker Guoan, Donny Underhill, Emily Wyniemko, Emily Withrow – Trumpet Ensemble, Jeb Bukosky and Danielle Roggow – Tuba Duet, Hannah Elmore and Katie Raymond – Woodwind Duet.
Earning second division ratings were: VaDawn Wagnitz – Flute Solo, Grant Shafer – Alto Sax Solo, Jeb Bukosky – Tuba Solo, Ashley Wisniewski – Clarinet Solo, Nathan Keen, Parker Guoan, Tanner Bissonette, Katie Raymond – Mixed Quartet, Victoria Doan and Olivia Klein – Flute Duet, Kassidy Teffner and Hailey Kokowicz – Trombone Duet.
Victoria Doan earned a Third Division rating for her Flute Solo.
In spite of the bad weather and lack of rehearsal time, these students persevered and gave some truly fine performances. You represented Gladwin High School and the Gladwin Bands very well.
All events that earned a First Division rating have qualified for the State Festival which will take place in March.

The MSBOA District 9 All Star Band concert took place on Saturday, January 19 at Alpena High School. The Gladwin Bands were well represented having 12 students earn places in the two bands. These students earned their spots through an audition process that included students from schools all over north east Michigan. The students selected for this honor were: VaDawn Wagnitz, Emily Withrow, Hayden Hurst, Nathan Keen, Hannah Elmore, Victor Edick, Meradith Anderson, DJ Nyman, Katie Raymond, Mario Sangret-Savalle, Sabrina Chisum and Kaitlyn Levine, In addition to earning places in the two Bands, Kaitlyn Levine and Sabrina Chisum earned First Chair in their sections. Our Little Caesars Pizza Kit sale was a BIG success!!! Our students sold over 600 pizza kits. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who sold pizza kits. Now comes the next part. Our delivery date is Tuesday, November 13. All pizza kits will be delivered to the HS Cafetorium and will need to be picked up between 3:30 and 5:30 and then delivered to your customers as soon as possible. All orders must be picked up and delivered at this time as we do not have cold storage for unclaimed orders. Please make arrangements to pick up and deliver your orders at this time. On Wednesday, September 26, the GHS Marching Band will travel to Clare High School to participate in the 1st annual Pioneer Marching Showcase. The Pioneer Marching Showcase is a non-competitive performance that gives us a chance to perform our show for other marching bands and allows our performance to be critiqued by a panel of judges. It also gives us a chance to see other marching bands perform. We hope to have a large group of parents and friends from GHS come over to Clare to support us. On Friday, September 21, the 7th and 8th grade Bands will be joining the HS Marching Band at the Gladwin – Houghton Lake Football Game. This is our first performance as
listed in the band calendar that was sent home on the first day of school. The details
are as follows:
*All Students need to on the HS prac/ce field, ready to play at 5:00.
*All students should wear blue and white.
*We will march to the field with the HS Band, Cheer on the team, perform at
Halime, and march back to the HS aer the game.
*Students are expected to stay for the en/re game and will be dismissed from the
High School music room aer the game (approximately 9:30).
